Angels
According to scripture there are two kinds of angels, good angels and fallen angels. Good angels are spirits created by God and sent to minister to and for those who are heirs of salvation. In Hebrews 1:7 we read..."He makes His angels winds and His ministering servants flames of fire"...and in (vs: 14) "are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service (of God for the assistance) of those who are to inherit salvation."
Since we are heirs of salvation it would follow that God sent angels to help us. Their ministry has not passed away. It didn't stop when the New Testament was recorded. It didn't stop with the apostles...they're still working today. There are many instances in the New Testament of angels inter-acting with people. For example, Mary being told about her conception...Joseph being told where to go to avoid people trying to kill Jesus….and how angels helped Peter and Paul freeing them from prison.
In order to be informed and for our own spiritual protection I’ll explore what are fallen angels and their scriptural basis. Fallen angels are angels that have rebelled against God. One third of the angels fell from heaven with Lucifer. "They were cast down and out", (Rev 12:9) in the 6th verse Jude’s letter we’re told the fallen angels are reserved "in custody eternal chains (bonds) under thick gloom of utter darkness until judgement and doom of the great day. It’s important at this point that we understand who and what angels are. Angels are created beings...we are human beings. There's a difference between the created being and a human being. When we die we do not become an angel. There is no salvation for angels. Lucifer was a created being. All angels are designed and set in a place to fulfil the purpose for which God created them. Angels must respond to what God has created them to do...they don't have a right to make choices. They have the ability to choose but not the right of choice. The fallen angels did not have the right to make the decisions they made. They didn't have the right to speak their own words. They are required to speak God's words and enforce them, doing His will and enforcing His commandments. But sadly they chose to rebel.
Adam was created as a human being with the ability of choice and the right of choice. That’s why Jesus was sent to redeem and restore mankind. We are created in His image and likeness. We have the right to choose our destiny...angels don't. Fallen angels made a choice they had no right to make. They are created beings and not man created in God's image. They can't be redeemed or saved. They left their habitat and can never return. Mankind is the only being with the right to choose.
The world isn't ruled by angels, but they have an important part to perform here on earth. In 2 Cor'11:13-14, we are told "those men are not real apostles; they are false apostles, who lie about their work and disguise themselves to look like real apostles of Christ." Satan himself masquerade’s as an angel of light. But we must remember that God gave mam dominion over the earth. The Hebrew word dominion translated means the right and power to govern and control. Even though Adam gave his dominion away, we have gained it back through the blood of Christ. Therefore it's important to remember we have dominion not only of the created things around us.
Before explaining how we can put this advantage into effect, I would like to mention guardian angels. Everyone has a personal angel that guards us. In Mt. 18:10 we read "their angels are always in the presence of my Father in heaven." These angels are active around us always. They work in the earth for us. They will become involved in every area of our life if we allow them to. I also believe firmly that our guardian angels have names and I'm sure that if you ask God He will tell you yours.
The word of God and staying close to Jesus in personal prayer will keep you in balance concerning these supernatural beings. Don’t be concerned about seeing angels or any manifestations. That’s up to God. Remember there's a difference in job descriptions for angels. The Holy Spirit dwells in us, angels do not. They are here to minister to us. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, angels are not. They do not reveal the word of God, that's the work of the Holy Spirit. Angels do comfort and help us in the natural realm...often by moving circumstances in our favor or by causing supernatural manifestations of light and love. The Holy Spirit comforts, helps and strengthens us from within. It's the job of the Holy Spirit to be truth. Romans 8:14, "for all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
Judge manifestations and appearances by the Word of God. If an angel appeared to you and tried explaining scripture, I would be suspicious. There are many voices in the world today. If you’re seeking a mighty revelation that no one has received, you might get one, but from the wrong source. There is a voice of self, the voice of God and the voice of Satan. He would be glad to give you a revelation or vision. Let peace be one of the main guides in this area. In some parts of the body of Christ there are angels who have names…Gabriel, Michael, Raphael...and two evil angels, Lucifer and Abaddon or Apollyon.
Let your angels work for you. They will help you if you believe in them and speak words of faith. Psalm 34:7 says "let the redeemed of the Lord say so.” Psalm 34:7 the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him and each of them he delivers.” Every day confess Psalm 91 and remember Phil 4:19 "my God will supply your every need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Also Isaiah 54:17.” No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Psalm 1:3 “everything he does shall prosper.” Keep God’s word in your mouth.
Angels are listening to what you say. If our words are in line with His word, the angels work and move for us immediately causing what we speak to come to pass. But if we speak things that are contrary to His word, they won’t operate. Words spoken contrary to His word bind the angels. They will back off, fold their hands and bow their heads… They listen to your voice, your words. Man was designed to speak truth. To speak His will. When angels hear God's word, God's will, they go into action. In Mt. 5:37 we read “let your yes be yes and your no be no, anything beyond this comes from the evil one." Mt. 12:34-37, "out of the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks... a good person brings good things out of his treasure of good things; a bad person brings bad things out of his treasure of bad things." You can be sure that on the judgement day everyone will have to give account of every useless word he has ever spoken. Your words will be used to judge you...to declare you either innocent or guilty-" Remember we have the ability as children of God to summon the aid of angels. It is a part of our salvation.
